A group of researchers Huberman, Sitaram Asur and Roja Bandari claim they have created an algorithm wich can predict up to 84% how popular a tweet is going to be and how likely is to be retweeted.

After a study over 40,000 tweets, they discovered that references to technology and celebrities did particulary well, followed by health and fun stuff.


In addiction, they analyzed four categories in the study to determine how popular a tweet would be:

• News source
• Language of the article
• Subject
• the Named person in the article

They discovered that references to online marketing popular sources like Mashable and All Facebook perform particulary well as news sources, guaranteeing instant retweet.
